There is a farmer making considerable profit cultivating quality organic mushrooms.

That would be Su-beom Lee (62), the CEO of Hangeuru, an agricultural corporation situated in Soi-myeon, Eumseung-gun, Korea.

Mr. Lee makes sizable profits by cultivating organic shiitake mushroom using soil combined with wood shavings of 1st grade oak, rice chaff from Pungdeok organic rice producers, and calcium carbonate.

Certified organic produce of the National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service, Hangeuru's shiitake mushrooms are rich in eridademine, which helps to lower blood cholesterol levels and prevent hypertension and arteriosclerosis.

Mr. Lee said, “I served in the military as a soldier touring all across Korea, so I wanted to settle back down in the countryside where I grew up after my retirement. My brother suggested I take over his mushroom farm, and I went with it and chose to farm organic shiitake mushrooms to make trustworthy food that would be good for my neighbors.”
With her focus on making high-quality fermented goods with mushrooms, Mr. Lee's wife Chun-hee Kim (60) makes it a family business.

Mrs. Kim said, “I thought it would be a good idea to make fermented goods with shiitake mushrooms as a part of my husband's retirement plan. We look for the best soybeans, salt, and clay pots in Korea for our fermented pastes, and we take pride in our work as we have been seeing great responses and increased orders from our customers.”
